Adversity

As we conclude our study of the Greek hero Odysseus, I am reminded of a woman who faced adversity through no fault of her own, Aimee Mullins. The spirit of her story reminds me that there are so many heroes we meet in life who can provide both inspiration and challenge.

After watching the video, list your take-aways: What is it that sticks with you about this woman? What does it ask you to consider about your own circumstances?

ANSWER BOTH OF THE ABOVE QUESTIONS!

-Just because you may have certain problems that doesn't mean that has to define you as a person
-You learn from experience
- you have to learn to be yourself when the odds are places against you

This ask me to consider about my circumstance that not everything will go well all the time but you have to learn to persevere.

- Words themselves have power, whether powerful or weak. Yet the way they are perceived, used, and labeled have an enormous impact on our reality which act unnoticed.
-Everyone has their pros and cons. That shouldn't separate us

I believe this woman is extremely wise and open minded. In my case, I believe you should live life day by day ready for everything and anything because you never know if you'll wake up for the next

My take away from this video is that when faced with adversity, you should not let it affect your character. It helps you to realize that no matter what circumstances you face, the best way to deal with them is to stay true to yourself. Perseverance and strength are key.

This woman is a persistent one that does not take no for an answer. She probably has gone through many rough patches but prevailed nonetheless. Being born with a birth defect didn't stop her, so she sees that anything is possible. I don't consider myself to be disabled in anyways. Sure, I might have ADHD, but I get by.

Whats is it that sticks with this woman? She is very bright and experienced and seems very grateful.
What does it ask to you to consider about your own circumstances ?
To put myself in someone else's shoes and see how my life would be and be grateful for your blessings and to encourage other to do better in life.

In this video my take away was don't let something challenging affect the way that you live your life. You can always find something positive during a hard situation. You should stay strong and keep pushing yourself to be the best that you can be. At one point in my life I had an exteremly hard time staying focused in school and I got in trouble a lot because of it but eventually I learned to control myself and i'm doing better in school.

Something that sticks to me about her is that she does not take no for an answer. She stood there and just put her thoughts out there for everybody to hear and that takes bravery. It makes me ask myself what would do in this situation and how I would handle this.

-Even though she went through things you can still fight through

It considers my own circumstances is that I shouldn't judge people by the stuff they do and how they looked.

-The women in the video may be disabled but she doesn't let society decide what that means she gives her own meaning to it. She isn't like how society pictures a disabled person.
-It makes me consider how i am lucky that i have per-say "advantages" but as a person who lives in this society i shouldn't look at disabled people in a negative way or as weak. I've grown up with a disabled mother and I've never seen her as weak because her being disabled doesn't make her weak.

My take away is a struggle you face or a challenge you come across should define you as a perso and you can strive to overcome anything you really put your mind too.
It asks me to remember and think back about that even in hard times also to have a good attitude and have hope that will get better.

My take from the women in the video is that she has a very positive mindset about everything she has to deal with. Also, even with her disability she finds the bright spot in everything and doesn't care what others think.

It asks me to remember that I need to keep a positive mindset and stay true to myself and never care what others think of me.

After watching the video, I can take away that the lady stays positive and doesn't let others peoples opinions
effect her. She doesn't let anything effect and she keeps a positive mindset about her " disability". She continues to stay positive and live her life.

It asks me to stay positive and not to focus on my negative. No matter what you do, having a positive mindset can always helps. Don't let other people judging effect your happiness.

What I took away was don't let something difficult change the way you want to live your life. You could always find something joyous in hard times. You must keep a strong heart and strive to be the best at what you want to be.

I believe this woman is very unbiased. I believe you should live your life always ready for things to happen because you never know when your life could change negatively forever.

-Something I can take away about Aimee Mullins is how she does not take no answer, and is brave enough to always put her opinion out there.
-I am slightly like this person in the fact that I like to voice my opinion, but if the opinions or odds are against me I would usually stay silent to create no controversy, which I should fix.

No matter what disabilities or obstacles you may face, you have the ability to overcome adversity. It's important not to listen to the opinions of others, especially when they work to limit you. By having faith in yourself and working hard, anything is possible.

My takeaways:
This woman is very strong and persistent and has probably gone through many things but she had gotten through everything. Also, another thing is she truly was a living example that you can get through tough times if you don't give up and you shouldn't belittle anyone for anything
It asks me to attempt to be positive and think before I act and even when hardships come I should always try to prevail.

The thing that I take away from this video is that anyone can get through any bad experience that they face. It will be hard but once you get out of that situation, you will be a stronger and better person than before. I also realized the importance of being positive and not judging people before meeting them and learning their story,

it asks me to not blame my actions on my past and to be strong through whatever comes in my path.

she might be disabled but she doesn't let anybody bring her down she gives her own meaning to it. She isn't like how most people would see a stereotypical disabled person.
It makes me think about how I am blessed that I have no "disabilities". I should not look at disabled people as weak.

What stood out to me about the woman was how motivational she was and how she was so positive and didn't let her disabilities define her. For my own circumstances, it made me consider that you need to be persistent and not let anything hold you back.

The person talking was really strong mentally and had the drive to acknowledge and deal with her adversity. This video showed me how adversity is a push to achieve more and in my life it is clear that overcoming and achieving many things was pushed by me being at a disadvantage in many things.

What stuck with me about this woman was that she didn't let her disability get in the way of her life, she still overcame obstacles like everyone else.

This video made me think about how I have different circumstances than people with disabilities, and people with disabilities have been successful so I should be able to be successful if I keep being persistent.

What I took away from this video is that anything is possible. Just because one has a disability it does NOT mean that they're broken or useless. They're valuable. Another thing I took away is that anyone and everyone can do whatever they put their mind too. Everyone can be successful IF they work hard and don't give up.

It helps me know and understand that if I persist and pursue my dreams I can do anything. No matter what my circumstances are, it helps me consider that when I am having a hard time with something.. Others are having trouble with the same thing but struggling even more.

-what I took away from this video is that we have to be positive. Just because we have a lot of problems with our family or other people it doesn't mean that we have to changes who we are. Also I learn that no matter what we want to do in life we can make it only by be positive and never give up.

This video help me to know that we all are the same no matter what condition we have. Also help me to know that no matter what are my problems I ways have to be a positive person and never changes who I am and how do I act with other people.

What I took away the most from the video is through all the bad things in life we have to stay positive and believe in ourselves. No matter your circumstance if you have the mindset that you can do it then you will be able to do it. You just have to work hard.

The video connects to me because sometimes when I get really stressed over the little things I just give up. But there are people out here that have actual everyday challenges that they have to overcome. It made me think that I have to always keep going.

-After watching the video, my biggest takeaway was how the speaker viewed adversity as a means for success rather than a challenge. I also found it inspiring that Ms. Mullins thoroughly advocated for people to be adaptable to change and to embrace our difficulties as tools that help improve our character. Her words made me reflect on how I tackle everyday issues and reminded me that I shouldn't get discouraged when faced with significant hurdles in life.

What sticks with me is how she acknowledges her circumstances without letting them become her entire identity. They are a part of her, but they are not her.

I think to me, this is a good reminder that your challenges shouldn't define you, they should only help you define yourself.
